Keyboard shortcuts
Every keyboard shortcut in Intelligence, from the backslash that folds the menu to the feed reader keys, plus what the product has no shortcut for.
Most of Intelligence works with a mouse. A few keys still save real time, especially if you spend the day on one screen. This page collects every shortcut the product answers to, including the ones with no button to remind you they exist. Anyone can use them, whatever their role.
None of them can be changed. There is no shortcut editor, and the product never remaps a key your browser already uses.
Anywhere in the product
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
\ | Switches the left menu between pinned and auto-hide. On a phone or a narrow window, it opens and closes the drawer instead. |
Escape | Closes whatever is on top, and on a confirmation dialog it cancels rather than confirms: the menu drawer, the Activity panel, your profile menu, a confirmation dialog, a side drawer, a right-click menu, or a picture opened large. |
The backslash works from any page, and the pin icon’s tooltip reminds you of it. It stays out of the way while you are typing in a field, and it ignores you if you are holding Ctrl, Cmd or Alt, so it never fights a browser shortcut.
Sending a message
Every chat box in the product agrees on one thing, which is a relief when you move between them.
Enter sends. Shift + Enter starts a new line inside the message.
That holds in Ask Intelligence, in the Playground, in the instruction box under a saved piece in the copy studios, and in the menu that appears when you select text in an article or a plan and ask for a rewrite. Your customers get the same behavior on the public page of a service desk, which is worth knowing when you test one.
One thing to keep in mind: Enter in Ask Intelligence or the Playground starts a paid run, the same as clicking the send button. The cost appears on the answer when it comes back, as it always does. See credits and costs and what costs credits.
Two extras go with it:
- In Ask Intelligence, typing
@opens a list of things to point at. Move through it withArrowUpandArrowDown, pick one withEnterorTab, and close it withEscape. - In the Playground,
Escapecloses the model picker.
Running a form without reaching for the mouse
Ctrl + Enter submits from anywhere in the form. On a Mac it is Cmd + Enter, and that substitution holds for every combination on this page. Two places use it:
It works in the copy wizard of the copy studios, from any step, so you can fill a long brief and fire it without scrolling back to the button. It also works in the activity and note boxes on a deal in the CRM, where you are usually typing three lines and moving on.
The rest of the shortcuts belong to one screen each.
The Assets Library
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
/ | Jumps to the search box and selects what is in it, so you can type straight over it. The field carries a small / hint. |
Escape | Clears the search, when the cursor is in the box and the box is not already empty. |
The slash works from anywhere on the library page as long as you are not already in a field. The search box itself carries the reminder, as a small / mark and the tooltip “Press / to search”.

The feed reader
Open an article in the feed reader and four keys take over. The buttons in the reader’s header name them, so there is nothing to memorize. Feeds is a module of its own, open to every account, so these four keys work whatever your organization switched on.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
j or ArrowRight | Next article |
k or ArrowLeft | Previous article |
f | Full screen, and back |
Escape | Closes the reader |
They work only while the reader is open. Start typing somewhere and they step aside.
Small fields and lists
A few controls answer the keyboard in ways you would not guess:
- Tag boxes, in the library, on agents and on keyword clusters:
Enteror a comma adds the tag you typed, andBackspacein an empty box removes the last one. - A task title on the board: click it to edit in place, then
Entercommits andEscapecancels. See the board. - The security tabs in Settings:
ArrowLeftandArrowRightmove between them. See sign-in and security.
What the product does not have
No command palette, and no global search box. Ctrl + K and Cmd + K do nothing here. To find a page, use the left menu, which you can arrange in your own order. To find a file, use the Assets Library and its slash shortcut. Each module has its own search box at the top of its list.
Note: Every shortcut on this page stands down while you are typing in a text field, a text area or a select. Nothing you type gets eaten by a shortcut.
Two last things. The keys are the same whatever interface language you use, because they are keys and not words. And everything on this page is a shortcut, not the only way in: each one has a button or a menu item behind it, so nothing here is required to do the work.
If a shortcut you would use is missing, ask for it through the contact form.
